Somatic Experiencing

Somatic experiencing is a body-oriented therapy developed by Dr. Peter Levine, which aims to help individuals process and heal from trauma. It operates on the premise that trauma is stored in the body and can manifest as physical tension, emotional distress, or dysregulation of the nervous. By focusing on bodily sensations, clients learn to become more aware of their physical experiences, which helps them to release pent-up energy and emotions associated with past traumas. This method encourages to engage with their physical sensations in a safe and supportive environment, them to gradually process their experiences without becoming overwhelmed. As clients learn to navigate their internal landscape, they develop tools to regulate their nervous systems, leading to increased and emotional balance. I am thrilled announce that I am currently enrolled in three-year postgraduate clinical training program in somatic experiencing. This education will enhance my skills and enable me to integrate this powerful therapy into my healing sessions. By combining somatic experiencing with other therapeutic modalities, I aim to provide a comprehensive approach to healing that addresses both the mind and body, helping clients find lasting relief and empowerment on their healing.
A Somatic Moment.
Somatic therapy, developed by Dr. Peter Levine, integrates the principles of psychology with body awareness to address trauma and emotional distress. Levine's work is rooted in the understanding that trauma can be stored in the body, leading to various psychological and physical issues. The therapy focuses on helping individuals reconnect with their bodily sensations to process and release these emotions. An easy somatic exercise to apply is the "body scan," where you sit or lie down comfortably and systematically focus on different parts of your body, noticing any tension or sensations without judgment. This practice encourages relaxation and helps release stored emotions, promoting a sense of well-being.
